United Raises Baggage Fees Over Fuel Costs

United Raises Checked Baggage Fees Amid Rising Fuel Costs

United Airlines has increased checked baggage fees by $10 due to mounting pressure from rising oil and jet fuel prices.

The airline raised fees for both the first and second checked bags by $10 each. The move is part of broader measures aimed at offsetting increasing operational costs, while United is also preparing to reduce some unprofitable routes.

➡️ Jet fuel prices have surged in recent weeks from around $85–90 per barrel to the $150–200 range, placing pressure across the industry on ticket prices, ancillary fees, and capacity planning.
